Trevor Martin acquired the land with a view to the future development of the site after obtaining Building and Planning approval.
TM Building developed the site of fifteen properties consisting one replacement and fourteen new houses. Later as the site progressed, another 4-bedroom home was added which is where Mr Martin and his family now live.
The development consists of four 4-bedroom detached homes, four 3-storey townhouses with four bedrooms, seven 3-bedroom homes and one 2-bedroom house. Of the sixteen properties there are fourteen differing styles. All were constructed with traditional block and beam floors and brick block walls. The roof and verticals are clad with either natural slate, Heathland or Manor House mix plain tiles, with roll top lead clad dormers incorporating feature apron work. The detail work includes cast-effect guttering and down pipes to give the houses a characteristic feel.
The need for adequate parking was a high priority in planning, and TM Building has provided a minimum of two parking spaces for every house, some having garages and space for up to five cars. This means the road is free of parked cars and allows easy access in and out of the development.
The houses were built to a robust detail, of which we are very proud. Backed by the NHBC, this development is a showpiece for all new, good quality, and traditionally-constructed homes.

The project consisted of the demolition of a cattle shed, associated barns, and clearance of the extensive site. Of the one salvageable barn, only two existing walls were left. The bricks, concrete and debris removed from the walls was then crushed for hardcore purposes. Underpinning works commenced as did the repairing and renovation of the existing walls. Footings were then dug and slab laid; followed by the installation of the ground heat pump and pipework in the adjacent field.
Construction of the new house then commenced, which featured oak trusses and glass work to make the most of the fantastic views of the fields surrounding the property. We used Ashurst clay hand crafted tiles for the roof, incorporating a lead roll-top roof and lead-clad dormers, together with solar panels. Internal works included oak staircases throughout and a feature loft balcony detail. Final completion work comprised the fitting of a bespoke kitchen, along with internal floor tiling, timber floors and internal decorations. This is a magnificent house which has retained all the charm and originality of the period, by the clever use of salvaged bricks in the renovation.

New Build House, Surrey
New Build House, Surrey
This was the final phase of a wonderful, private, gated development where we had previously renovated and modified the existing building including re-tiling the roof.
The original house is a Grade II listed Georgian mansion set in 14 acres of landscaped gardens and rolling parkland, designed by Gertrude Jekyll. The development includes 11 new build homes with 2-5 bedrooms, all designed and fitted to compliment the main house. We have now completed the last New Build property at this location.
It was necessary to leave the original squash court wall and construct a fantastic new house with outstanding views of the rugby playing fields. The property was designed to blend with the existing buildings, from the type of hand-made bricks used, the mixed colour range of Keymer tiles and the purpose-made matching joinery. The house now blends in with its surroundings as if it had always been there.
We have received many recommendations from the residents due to us finishing the work on time and with minimum inconvenience.
